On the recent Riders Lounge Podcast, Guillem Navas, an absolute Freeriding shredder from Spain, who should have been invited to ride in his first X Games comp but missed an invite, was humble enough and stoked to jump on and give his break-down of the X Games Quarter Pipe High Air competition at Slayground in 2021.

With a bunch of rad individuals joining the full podcast, it was cool to get everyone’s opinion of this years competition, what was good, what didn’t work, but it was Guillem’s eye for detail in how the riders were approaching the jump which was really cool to listen too, from someone who has actually jumped this ramp.

And you should probably remember… there are not many people in the world who have even attempted to jump this vertical wall of death!

Unfortunately, Corey Creed who held the previous record only one inch lower at 40’8″, was knocked out of competition, literally when he crashed the day before in practise.  Suffering a severe concussion and broken hand, Creed wasn’t able to back up his unbeatable performance on QP recently and had to let the other guys have a shot at it.

There was plenty of drama before the event when the invite list came out, with Kohl Denney and Guillem Navas missing their shots.  Only it was lucky for Denney, 2 days before the comp, he received his last minute invite and he near on secured a Bronze medal, until Tyler Bereman went for glory on his last attempt to sneak the Bronze away.

This episode I am joined by more riders than ever before on this mini-series of X Games reviews and I’m stoked to have some legends take time out of their day to give their opinion including the man who should have been there and competing, Guillem Navas (or @navaspetit823 on Instagram!).  Joining Guillem is his older brother, el Presidente Antonio Navas, FMX Legends Edgar Torronteras and Javier Villegas, Moto Comedian Clint Esposito, Weekend warriors Kevin Peterson, Andy Christie and FMX_Grizz and former X Games and X-Fighters Judge, Jose Gaspar.

In the first of the X Games review mini-series, Jamie Squibb joined to give his Overall Impression of X Games, and the first highlight he could think of, was the inclusion of Kohl Denney in the Quarter Pipe competition.

Kohl has been on fire lately, and after his huge performance at Nitro World Games, everyone was pretty surprised he didn’t get an invite.

Luckily at the 11th hour, he received his invite, showed up, threw down and until the last jump by Tyler Bereman, Kohl was sitting in 3rd position.

Only just pipped on the final jump to take 4th overall at his first ever X Games. Impressive first event and I’m sure we’ll see more from Kohl Denney in the future!

Cult favourite and one man Crusty Demons video rider, Kohl Denney has received his overwhelmingly deserved invite to ride at X Games in Quarter Pipe High Air… with about 48 hours notice.

But I’m sure… better late than never!

We were planning to do a Podcast interview this week about him missing the invite and having so many fans pushing for him to be included.

By luck, we didn’t get a chance to chat yet, and in the meantime Kohl has been invited!

So we’re absolutely stoked to see the Quarter Pipe line-up expand to 7 riders and including Kohl and hope we can catch up with him after X Games and see how he did!
